Back in 2018, I visited Grand Cayman for the first time. Since, then I have returned twice and stayed at the Westin Grand Cayman each time. I’m not sure I would stay anywhere else! The service is incredible and the hotel sits directly on Seven Mile Beach which is simply stunning! It has been named one of the ultimate beaches by Carribbean + Life, 4th best in the Caribbean by Tripadvisor and 12th in the world by MSN!

Hotel

When you arrive at the hotel you will be greeted by friendly valet and bellmen. You’ll barely be able to pay the cab fare before they open the door and get your luggage for you. These guys are also a wealth of knowledge about the area and can not only suggest great restaurants for you, they have discounts! Don’t be shy making friends with them, it will be worth it 😉

The lobby is beautiful with a lovely bar, shops and multiple sitting areas. This is a great place to hang out with a cocktail and enjoy the live music in the evenings. As you make your way to the room, you’ll pass Cayman Coffee Exchange which is a great grab n go spot for sandwiches, snacks and coffee…obviously.

There’s also a couple of shops with clothing, souvenirs, and toiletries. If you forgot anything, this is where you want to stop. These stores came in very handy when Mrs. Revpar needed some last minute water shoes. If you’re the kind of person who works out on vacation (ahem- NERD ALERT!) the gym is down here, as well as the kids activities room. Ask at the front desk for the hours and schedule for the week!

Rooms

We’ve had a few different room styles here and they are all lovely! Many of them have balconies, but of course, the rooms facing the ocean are the best. If you do utilize the balcony, be sure to close the door behind you. It gets VERY humid down here and your A/C will have to work overtime to cool the room back down. Just like any other Westin, the best part of the room is the Heavenly Bed! You will sleep like a baby on this mattress. Best sleep I’ve gotten at any hotel.

Beach

Ok, now back to the important stuff. The Beach!! As mentioned earlier, this beach is spectacular and has won awards from multiple reputable publications. In short, you’re gonna love it here. There are long stretches of soft white sand, with calm crystal clear waters. The water is fairly shallow upon entry while also deep enough for pretty much any watersport. Red Sail Sports, who’s office is located right on the beach, have two boats that leave for excursions right in front of the Westin’s beach area.

For any snorkeling buffs like myself, there are a few reefs located here where you can see lots of tropical fish! I was able to see parrotfish, sting rays, and a large sea turtle which my wife was lucky enough to touch! Beach chairs and umbrellas are plentiful and readily available for resort guests. The best feature  is the button that is provided to request service. Food and drink brought right to you on the beach without you having to move a muscle.  The beach is directly behind the resort and it is  for hotel guests only so you will not be bothered by any vendors while you are trying to relax. There are plenty of shops to get your conch shells 😉

Pool

I am not much of a pool person when traveling, especially when there is such a beautiful beach available, but this one is very nice. It’s quite large and  spans the entire length of the lobby area with plenty of chairs available. There is a swim up bar and even a hot tub nearby.. if you can stand doing that to yourself in 85+ degree weather. Also, if you’re going to do any scuba diving, this is where your morning training will take place.

Dining

Rum Runner with Spicy Tortuga Fries

While the Westin has 6 dining outlets, I spent most of my time at Tortuga Beach Grill and Bar which is located right on the beach. It’s open for lunch and dinner, but we mainly visited for lunch. Over the course of the week I had house salad with grilled mahi mahi, fish tacos, BLT avocado wrap, but my absolute favorite was the West Indies Chicken Wrap! Made with real Caribbean jerk chicken it was the tastiest thing I had for lunch all week. If you like spicy like I do, get the Tortuga Spiced Fries on the side. They come with banana peppers and jerk ketchup 😊 I almost forgot about the most important part, the booze! The entire first page of the menu is dedicated to adult beverages, they even have skinny options. Surprisingly, my favorite was the Dark and Stormy. Hopefully that is not a reflection of the weather when you visit😊

Grand Cayman is a great island which has quickly become my favorite after only a few visits! You can’t go wrong staying at the  Westin Grand Cayman . The service is excellent, you’ll sleep well, there’s activities for the kids, and the beach simply cannot be beat. Book your trip today!
