The Vintage Hotel & Spa Lisbon is a luxury boutique hotel conveniently located between the high-end shopping of Avenida da Liberdade and the lively streets of Bairro Alto.
This was my first trip to Lisbon, and I could not have selected a better hotel. The Vintage Lisbon provided easy access to many of the city’s most popular neighborhoods, excellent service and one of the best meals of our entire trip—without us having to leave the hotel.
Here is everything you need to know before booking a stay at this boutique luxury hotel in Lisbon.
Checking In at The Vintage Lisbon
Check-in was easy, smooth and efficient, which was very welcome after traveling from England.
Although the flight from London to Lisbon is only a few hours, navigating Heathrow Airport on a Sunday was not one of my better ideas. As for Lisbon Airport, let’s just say you should be prepared for anything. Maybe that will become a separate blog post in the future.
But let’s not get sidetracked.
The front desk staff at The Vintage Lisbon was friendly, welcoming and knowledgeable about the city. José, in particular, provided excellent recommendations for scenic viewpoints, restaurants and shopping.
He also directed us toward an enormous Zara store approximately a 20-minute walk from the hotel. This became one of many examples of how conveniently located The Vintage Lisbon is for exploring the city on foot.
Breakfast at Blue Restaurant
Breakfast was included with our room and served on the ground floor at Blue Restaurant.
Guests can choose between the breakfast buffet and à la carte options. We selected the buffet each morning because it offered plenty of variety, including eggs, breakfast meats, pastries, bread and fresh fruit.
However, the real star of breakfast was the bacon.
I do not know what kind of pig it came from or what they did to it, but that bacon was outstanding. It was easily one of the most memorable items on the breakfast buffet.
Dinner and Drinks at V Rooftop Bar
V Rooftop Bar is one of the highlights of staying at The Vintage Lisbon and should be on your itinerary even when you are not a hotel guest.
Because we arrived in the evening, the rooftop became the setting for our first meal in Lisbon. As the name suggests, it is located on the roof and offers beautiful views across the city.
There was a construction crane partially blocking the view during our stay, but hopefully that will be gone by the time you visit.
Service at the rooftop was a little slow, but we had nowhere else to be after a long travel day. We were happy to sit back, enjoy the atmosphere and relax.
This is also where we discovered pica-pau, a traditional Portuguese dish typically made with sliced beef and a flavorful sauce.
There appear to be several variations of pica-pau throughout Lisbon, but we particularly enjoyed the version served at V Rooftop Bar. Its creamy, savory sauce reminded us of beef stroganoff and quickly became one of our favorite meals of the trip.
Save some bread for the end. You will want to use it to soak up every last bit of the sauce.
Our Vintage Deluxe Room
Our room was located on the top floor, which made for a very convenient commute after dinner at the rooftop bar.
We stayed in an upgraded Vintage Deluxe Room, which included a traditional Portuguese gin and tonic kit. I was already doing plenty of drinking around Lisbon, so I did not take advantage of it during this visit. Still, it was a thoughtful and sophisticated touch that I will certainly enjoy next time.
The room was also spacious by European hotel standards. We had plenty of space to unpack, move around comfortably and store our luggage without it becoming an obstacle.
One thing American travelers should know is that the king-size bed may consist of two twin beds pushed together. This can create a small gap in the middle, but a few strategically placed pillows or part of the duvet can solve the problem.
The shower has an enclosed, closet-style design, with the door closing behind you after you enter. It requires a little maneuvering, but it was hardly a major inconvenience.
Overall, the room was comfortable, stylish and well suited for a longer stay in Lisbon.
Service at The Vintage Lisbon
As someone who has worked in the hospitality industry for nearly 25 years, service is always one of the most important parts of a hotel stay for me.
A beautiful property can make a strong first impression, but poor service will eventually undo everything. The Vintage Lisbon understands this and delivers the level of hospitality expected from a luxury hotel.
From the moment we walked through the door, we felt genuinely welcomed.
The hotel also uses WhatsApp to communicate with guests throughout their stay. Whenever we needed something, we simply sent a message to the hotel team.
Responses were quick, and requested items—including an extra duvet and additional toiletries—were delivered within minutes. The system was convenient, efficient and much easier than repeatedly calling the front desk.
These small interactions made a significant difference and helped the hotel feel both luxurious and approachable.
Is The Vintage Lisbon Worth It?
The Vintage Hotel & Spa Lisbon is an excellent choice for travelers searching for a luxury boutique hotel in central Lisbon.
Its location makes it easy to explore Avenida da Liberdade, Bairro Alto and many of Lisbon’s other popular neighborhoods. The rooms are spacious, the service is responsive and the rooftop bar gives guests a memorable place to begin or end an evening.
Most importantly, the hotel became a meaningful part of my first experience in Lisbon rather than simply being a place to sleep.
I loved Lisbon and will definitely return to the city. When I begin planning my next trip, The Vintage Lisbon will undoubtedly be near the top of my hotel list.
The Vintage Lisbon: Final Verdict

Highlights: Excellent service, spacious rooms, a convenient central location, WhatsApp guest assistance and V Rooftop Bar.
Keep in mind: Rooftop service may be leisurely, and some king-size beds may be two twin beds placed together.
Would I stay again? Absolutely.
